The CAMTech Uganda CAP Awards Ceremony 2022
The CAMTech Uganda Accelerator Program (CAP) Ceremony is a 1-2 hours event. The purpose of this event is to award the winning teams that participate in the call for proposals advertised by CAMTech Uganda every year. The selected teams MUST be working on health challenge or problem that has potential to have impact if addressed. The awarded teams must be under Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) or at least have a Principal Investigator (PI) who is a MUST staff.
This year (2022), we received a total of 15 applicants. 9/15(60%) of the applicants were males and 6/15(40%) were females. The winning teams from this group were selected by a panel of judge from multi-disciplinary backgrounds. These judges had expertise in business, medicine, community health and engineering.
A total of 3 teams were selected to be awarded this year. These teams are: i) Kang-Care: low cost locally knitted double layered premature carrier that embraces KMC technique. , ii) Toto Safe Baby Carrier: a modified baby carrier designed to safely transport very sick children that need critical care and iii) Mal-AI: An Artificial Intelligence powered Malaria diagnostic tool. Each of these teams will be supported with seed funding of 5,500USD and through the CAMTech Uganda Innovation Pathway.
